Showcase of Work

This showcase is a culmination of some of the projects and coursework that I completed throughout my time in the Masters of Arts in Education at Michigan State University.  My areas of focus in my course selection involved differentiation, technology, diversity, and leadership.  Below you will find links to some of my work throughout my  experience. I have organized my work into four categories.  The first category involves coursework about literacy and lesson planning. The next section contains work tied to meaningful technology integration in the classrooms. The third section focuses on diversity in education. The final section displays some of my thoughts on leadership. My hope is that this helps to paint a picture of the well-rounded educational experience I have had during my time at MSU.

Literacy Learner Analysis Project

For this project, I picked a student in my classroom to take a closer look at their literacy abilities.  I selected assessments to give them and use the data to help guide my instruction in order to help them grow as a literacy learner.  In my final case study, you will read why I chose the assessments I used, what strategies I used while working one-on-one with the student, and the growth of the student after individual instruction.

Differentiation

Technology

Leadership

Diversity

For this assignment I revamped a social studies unit by integrating new activities and technology. I took a unit that had been used over and over again and made it more exciting and engaging for the students. I then shared these materials with co-workers who were thrilled with the changes. Students had the opportunity to be hands on with their learning and most were more engaged and very successful during the completion of this unit.

Economics Unit Plan

During this project I was learning about some new media technology and tools.  I was able to use these new tools as I created an interactive Science unit on Earth's Land and Water  for my 2nd graders.  This was used by all of my colleagues and was engaging & enhanced the learning experience for my students.  I also have since moved many of my lessons to digital formats such as these because I saw the level of engagement within my teaching rise significantly.

CEP 816 Dream Project

Beyond revamping the science Earth's Land and Water unit I created a teacher tool that I shared with my colleagues. This can be used as a tool or aide to teach with in the classroom. These slides can be used as a visual for students and a guide through the lessons for teachers. All of these slides are based from the BCMASC curriculum. This helped me integrate technology into our everyday science lessons during this particular unit.

Teaching with Google Slides

For this final essay, for EAD 801 I had to nail down a challenge within my current organization. I then had to identify my loyalties, diagnose the climate, and explain my abilities to help overcome the challenge and rise up as a leader. I learned that in order to take on full range leadership I needed to believe in myself.

Self Relection Essay about Leadership

In EAD 801, we learned what defines the best leaders. In this reflection paper I describe what I believe to be the most important qualities for leaders to possess to be successful in their organization. I focus and explain my thoughts about how real communication, intentional planning, and stimulating positive rapport through progressive attitudes can contribute towards efficient leadership.

Thoughts About Organizations for Potential Leaders

For this case study I studied why and how Black students are marginalized through classroom instruction and educational goals. This analyzation was done by using Cultural Deficit Model, Critical Race Theory, the belief of White Supremacy, and qualities and experiences of oppression and racism.

Issues of Equity - Case Study Analysis

For this project I researched how oppression is prevalent in our society due to social stratification, power and white supremacy. I learned that most often, people do not have the choice of where they are placed in the social strata. In this paper I stand up for the importance of the fight against oppression and prejudice in the world of education today.
