Math Workshop

[Based on 3rd Grade Everyday Mathematics]

 

Each Math Workshop lesson begins with

- Mental Math

- Math Message

- Mini lesson focusing on the key idea of the lesson

 

Based on the results of the unit pre-assessment students are divided into 3 groups:

- Readiness

- At level

- Enrichment

 

In their groups students complete the rotation of all three stations. Each activity is differentiated to meet the needs of each group. 

 

At Your Seat

Students complete pages in their Math Journals worksheets practicing the skill learned in the mini lesson, or other activities designed to strengthen and build their math skills. 

 

Game/Computer

Students play games that build on math concepts and skills, use laptops to buld their fact power, use IXL, and the Everyday Math website to play math-focused computer games.

 

Teacher Time

Students work with the teacher to explore the main topic of the math lesson.
